## What the AI Overviews tracker records

Each prompt is run as a Google search in the prompt's country and language, and the AI Overview on the first results page is stored with every source it links. When Google shows no AI Overview for a prompt, that scan counts it as not mentioned.

## Your questions, answered

### What happens when Google shows no AI Overview?

The scan stores an empty AI Overview answer for that prompt, which counts as not mentioned, so a question Google answers without an overview pulls your AI Overviews score down. Google decides per query and per market, so the same prompt can get an overview in one country and not in another.

### Is ranking first in Google the same as being in the AI Overview?
